Direct से Indirect बनाने नियम:-
1. यदि वाक्य में Said या said to दिया है तो उसे Asked में बदल देते हैं।
2. Comma तथा Inverted comma को हटा देत हैं।
3. comma को हटाकर 'If या whether' का प्रयोग करते हैं।
4. इस प्रकार वाक्य की Reported Speech, Auxiliary verbs से शुरू होती है।
5. वाक्य के अंत में Question Mark ( ? ) का नहीं करते हैं।
Examples:-
1. Direct : Ravi said to me,"Are you reading a book?"
Indirect : Ravi asked me if I was reading a book.
2. Direct : She said to you,"Do you know Sohan?"
Indirect : She asked you if you knew Sohan.
3. Direct : Sinni said to Binni,"Will you go to school today?"
Indirect : Sinni asked Binni if she would go to school that day.
4. Direct : He said to me,"Is your name Kavita?"
Indirect : He asked me if my name was kavita.
5. Direct : Sinni said to Binni," Am I going to buy a new car?"
Indirect : Sinni asked Binni if Sinni was going to buy a new car.
6. Direct : Father said to me,"Do you complete your work?"
Indirect : Father asked me if I completed my work.
7. Direct : He said to me,"Can I use your bike?."
Indirect : He asked me if he cauld use my bike.
8. Direct : I said to him,"Will you buy a new book?"
Indirect : I asked him whether he would buy a new book.
9. Direct : Ravi said to seema,"Who is calling you at the gate?."
Indirect : Ravi asked seema who was calling her at the gate.
10. Direct : They said to me,"Where have you gone?"
Indirect : They asked me where I had gone.
